One of hip-hop’s legendary couples is splitting up.

R&B songstress Kelis, 29, has filed for divorce from her husband, rapper Nas, 35. Kelis is seven months pregnant with the couple’s first child, a son, due this summer. Nas has a teenage daughter from a previous relationship.

I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis said. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.” On Thursday afternoon, attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears) filed a divorce petition on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences.

Nas and Kelis first met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by Sean “Diddy” Combs. The couple married in January 2005 in Atlanta.
