After remaining quiet on the incident which occurred last week, Brooke Shields is coming to the defense of her friend Kiefer Sutherland after he was arrested for headbutting fashion designer Jack McCollough.
Kiefer Sutherland was involved in a head-butting incident with Jack McCollough last Monday evening at an after-party for the Met’s Costume Institute Gala. Sutherland was arrested last week and charged with third-degree assault after McCollough suffered a broken nose which required surgery. Sutherland’s reps have denied any wrongdoing saying he “was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident.” Now, Brooke Shields attorney is speaking out on her behalf about the incident. Attorney Gerald Lefcourt issued a statement saying, “While at [the after-party at SubMercer,] Brooke was bumped into by Jack McCollough, and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company.”A witness confirmed Brooke’s statement saying that McCollough “may have shoved Kiefer first.”
Sutherland, who is currently on probation in L.A. for 5 years due to a DUI conviction, faces a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail. The actor is due in Manhattan Criminal Court on June 9, when the L.A. district attorney decides whether his behavior constitutes a violation worthy of sending him to jail.
