The Web is Collapsing Under The Weight Of Michael Jackson’s Death

June 25th, 2009 · No Comments

mjAs soon as I heard the news about Michael Jackson I did what millions of other people did: I ran to my laptop to search on the internet. Considering that Michael Jackson is one of the biggest stars in the world, it’s no surprise that the world wide web has started crashing since news of his death came out.

Whether you were a fan or not, everyone on the planet knows who Michael Jackson is. It was probably to be expected that Twitter would struggle as reportedly thousands of tweets came in about Jackson in a very short amount of time. Celebrities have been tweeting their respects to the King of Pop as well as their shock over the news. I was able to access the site briefly before it appeared to have crashed entirely for a short time. Reports came in that TMZ, which broke the story, crashed at multiple times throughout the ordeal and as a result Perez Hilton’s blog went down as well. Then it was the LATimes, who was the first to confirm Jackson was in a coma and then dead. As soon as I heard on TV that they had confirmed his coma, I hit their site to find it down for awhile before finally coming back online.
