HOLY HERMOINE! Emma Watson Covers British Elle: Talks Columbia University, Harry Potter & Her Need For Anonymity

I can’t get enough of the fabulous Emma Watson, who has blossomed from awkward teen into a fashionable lady gracing the pages of magazines in Burberry ads and working the coveted cover of Elle magazine in the August edition. You can imagine my excitement then I learned that she will be attending Columbia University in the fall.

The 19-year-old is busy preparing for the end of the Harry Potter franchise, in which she plays Hermoine Granger, and her start at Columbia University in September. Watson is bound to ignite the frantic excitement that buzzed around Manhattan when Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen attended NYU. But despite her worldwide fame, she hopes to be just another ‘anonymous’ student. I’m so excited. Living in London, it’s hard to be anonymous,’ she told Elle magazine. New York City is one of the rare places where celebrities can live amongst the population and lead a normal life…that is until Robert Pattinson arrived.

For the Elle magazine spread, Watson channeled her inner rock-chick style with dramatic eye makeup, teased tresses, and bold fashion ensembles such as latex leggings and bustier tops.

Emma considered attending the prestigious Cambridge University, but opted for Columbia for a change of scenery. ‘Cambridge is so high profile in itself and then, on top of that, people don’t really go out in Cambridge because it’s so small, so I’ll be going out in London and then that’s just the same thing. I definitely am attracted to the States for that reason.’

My whole life has been about Harry Potter and then all of that will shut down and I don’t know what it will be like. I go to university in September – I’ll be doing bits and bobs at Christmas, but September feels like my cut-off point, the moment when I’ll really stop.’

article-1196203-05842AF5000005DC-73_468x633Watson has made over $16.5 million, making her financially secure, although she is unsure if she will ever return to the big screen again. “At the moment I feel like I need to go away and figure out what I want to do and be myself for a bit,” she said. “I think university will give me that break. People think because I’m going to university I’m never going to act again, but it’s actually me. I want to figure out how I feel about everything first. Maybe I’ll keep acting, maybe I won’t.”
