Lindsay Lohan is being hailed ‘The New Marilyn Monroe’ in the latest issue of Vogue Espana

Wearing a bleached-blonde wig, dark smoky eyes and a pale lip the starlet appears in a series of glamour shots inspired by the movie icon. In one photo she wears a black and white strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress emblazoned with Marilyn Monroe’s iconic image.

Last year, Lohan was on the cover of New York Magazine re-creating Marilyn Monroe’s famous series of photos known as “The Last Sittting” photographed by Bert Stein in 1962. Monroe is LiLo’s idol and she went as far as to purchase an apartment where Marilyn once lived. She told New York Magazine: “If you saw my house … I have a lot of Marilyn stuff,” including a huge painting of Monroe. “It’s eerie,” Lohan said of the painting, a Christmas gift, “because it’s this picture of her, and it’s kind of cartoony, and there’s a big bottle of pills next to her, and they’ve fallen over.”

Lohan viewed the Bert Stein shoot as a theatrical performance, as a chance to inhabit the role of an idol. “I wanted to portray the book and get it point-on as much as I could, to bring it back to life,” she said. Hence the strict mimesis: scarves, nudity, and all. “Not more than fifteen minutes had passed since she’d arrived, and already she had agreed to take her clothes off!” Stern writes of Monroe in his swaggering introduction to The Complete Last Sitting, the book in which all 2,571 photos have been collected. He might have said the same about Lohan.

Again, Lohan appears with a blond wig, but this time she appears to be channeling Bonnie Parker of Bonnie & Clyde. Wearing the signature beret, a scantily clad Lohan stares into a mirror with her leg on the counter and appears to be looking at her “pocketbook” in the reflection. It’s a sexy and sultry photo and comes on the tail of Lohan’s glam ad campaign for Fornarina, which was released yesterday.

It appears that Lindsay Lohan is trying to clean up a tarnished image by appearing in beautifully done photoshoots with clothes, hair and makeup that shows her as a fierce looking lady rather than a hard partying girl. Personally, I love it and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
