Mischa Barton jetted to New York yesterday after spending nearly two weeks under ‘involuntary psychiatric hold’. The actress’s spokesman Craig Schneider confirmed: ‘Mischa is out of the hospital and continuing to improve in anticipation of resuming production as planned. She’s back to business as usual.’

The London-born actress looked healthy and happy as she waved to photographers before catching a flight out of Los Angeles’s LAX . The 23-year-old is heading to NYC to resume filming her new TV show “The Beautiful Life.” Production for the show, which stars the actress as a drug-addict supermodel, was delayed after Mischa was removed from her home amid reports of drinking and drug-taking. The new CW series, which also stars supermodel Elle Macpherson, is expected to resume filming on Friday. Ashton Kutcher, Executive Producing of “The Beautiful Life” said earlier this week: ‘I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great.’

Wearing a gold and green dress, Mischa was make-up free as she strolled through JFK carrying a leash attached to her adorable dog, Ziggy. The swelling on her face, as revealed in photos taken the day before she was hospitalized, appear to have gone away revealing her youthful glow.

The actress was held under Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code – the same code which hospitalized Britney Spears twice in 2008. The section stipulates authorities can hold a person against their will for up to 72 hours if they present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder. LAPD officers arrived at the 23-year-old’s West Hollywood apartment after responding to a non-emergency call to assist with a ‘medical issue’.

A statement from her representative confirmed Mischa was receiving hospital care, but declined to give further details.
