This years VMAS are just as versatile and exciting as the last. Welcoming back Russell Brand to host as well as hit TV stars, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford and Miranda Cosgrove to announce. Unique styles and new faces such as Lady GaGa, 3oh!3, and Drake – previously known as Jimmy on the Canadian series Degrassi – will be competing with the best of the best. The always and forever loveable comeback queen, Britney Spears, did it again, and made it as one of the top nominees competing.

In celebration of its return to New York City, stages will be placed all around the city including Radio City Music Hall where this Moonman giving saga began in 1984. New York natives such as Jay-Z (Brooklyn) and Lady Gaga (Yonkers) will be performing, as well as Green Day, Muse, Pink and Taylor Swift. Who’s looking forward to seeing what outfit Lady Gaga comes up with next? It’s sure to be a hit.

We mustn’t forget the real reason why the VMAs are so spectacular- the Moonmen! The 2009 categories include Best Female Video, Best Make Video, Best New Artist, Best Pop Video, Best Rock Video and Video of the Year. As well as some new categories like Best Breakthrough Video and Best Video (That Should Have Won A Moonman).

This magnificent music extravaganza, The MTV Video Music Awards, will air Sunday September 13^th 2009 at 9:00 PM on MTV.
