It’s a sad day when you start off your morning reporting on the death of two very talented musicians.
Exactly 10 weeks after his death, Michael Jackson was laid to eternal rest Thursday night in a crypt fit for a king. More than an hour after the funeral was scheduled to begin, the Jackson family arrived at the burial site just after dark in a row of black Rolls Royce Phantoms and made their way up to the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif. The mourners were seated outside the Great Mausoleum, where Jackson was interred. Two color photos of Jackson sat on easels in front of the crowd next to Jackson’s gold-plated coffin.

Jackson’s three young children – Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, 7 – poured their hearts out in personal letters that were placed in their father’s coffin along with one of his signature gloves. They placed a crown on top of a bed of flowers on the casket.
Jackson’s brothers and his two sons all wore black suits and red ties and sported purple arm bands embroidered with gold crowns as they filled the front rows. The singer’s brothers also wore sequin gloves on their left hands and carried the coffin to his crypt.

The service was attended by 200 family and close friends including including Stevie Wonder, legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor, the King of Pop’s first wife Lisa Marie Presley, actor Macaulay Culkin and girlfriend Mila Kunis, Quincy Jones, Chris Tucker, Corey Feldman and Barry Bonds. In addition, Jackson’s alleged love child Omer Bhatti was also in attendance.

“The Jackson Family wishes to once again thank all of Michael’s fans around the world for their generous outpouring of support during this terribly difficult time,” their rep said. “Their expressions of love for Michael and his music have sustained the Jackson Family.”
DJ AM memorial service: Adam Goldstein’s friends say goodbye with ‘12-step’ memorial
DJ AM’s friends and family said goodbye with a private memorial service last night in Los Angeles. “He was my soulmate and now he is my soul,” model Haley Wood, DJ AMs girlfriend, told the crowd of 2,000 people during the 2 1/2-hour memorial. “He is my amazing grace.”

Former fiancé Nicole Richie (who was seated in the front row), Robert Downey Jr, Iron Man director Jon Favreau, actress Lindsay Lohan and on again / off again girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson, musician John Mayer, Scott Caan, Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart joined the family of the famous DJ – real name Adam Goldstein – at the Los Angeles service.
In a reference to the recovering addict’s drug use, the service was based on the ‘12-step’ addiction recovery program. Several guests participated in the 12-step process, including Scott Caan, who wrote a rap to commemorate his friend and their time growing up together. Others who took the podium included club promoter Brent Bolthouse and Korn drummer Rob Patterson.
Former crack addict Goldstein, who had previously beaten his addictions and been clean for 11 years, had been due to reenter rehab at the time of his death. Mourners were led by Goldstein’s mother Andrea Gross, who arrived wearing one of her son’s colorful T-shirts.
Goldstein, 36, was earlier laid to rest in a Jewish ceremony on Wednesday. He was found dead in his $2million SoHo home on Friday night. A year ago Goldstein was critically injured when a Learjet crashed on takeoff in Columbia, South Carolina, killing four others. Friends said he had been battling post-traumatic stress after the crash, and suffering from ’survivor’s guilt’.
