Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano, presented his Spring / Summer 2010 collection on September 12 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Viewers fell for the luxurious collection in dramatic shades of red, orange, blue, and tan. Equally impressive was the collection of shoes that accompanied the looks down the runway. Would you believe the shoes are from Payless?

Although his clothes are sold at high-end stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Siriano designed his Payless on The Runway Collection with affordability in mind. “I’m designing for the runway and turn them into pieces that everyone can buy. I’m all about the runway and the sidewalks.”
An array of over-the-top booties, pumps, and curved pointed toes with 6 inch heels hit the runway embellished with oversize buckles, straps, and sequins. In an ode to high / low dressing, Siriano paired his Spring / Summer 2010 runway collection with shoes from his collection for Payless.

Inspired by the notion of luxurious Mediterranean travel, the collection evokes the glorious coastal sunset taken in while yachting. Khakis, nudes and blushes are present, as well as a unique printed fabric used heavily in the collection created by using an aerial photograph of the intricate Italian coast line that has been flipped, modified and repeating and saturated with Volcanic and Oceanic colors. This core fabric adds a lush graphic feel to the collection.

The vampy shoes were simply fabulous, incorporating dramatic colors and textures as well as high-end details. The five styles in the collection all have a rounded “bull horn heel” and dramatically pointed toes. I am fairly certain Payless will tone down the shoes before they hit stores since most people cannot walk in 6-inch stilettos, but I hope they don’t change much since his footwear collection was edgy and fierce, just like Siriano himself.
