Last nights Emmy Awards brought out the stars…and the heat.
“30 Rock” and “Mad Men” won top honors for best comedy and best drama at Sunday night’s “61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. Actors from TV and film hit the red carpet in Los Angeles, where temperatures neared 100 degrees causing attendee’s sweaty palms and messy makeup, but you would have never know since the stars on the red carpet shined in glam gowns and dapper tuxedos.
Although frequent references were made throughout the night to Kanye West’s bizarre interruption at last week’s MTV Video Awards, luckily everyone remained seated and kept their opinions to themselves.
Mad Men, the drama about an office full of chain-smoking 1960s advertising executives, was named best drama for the second consecutive year. I was shocked that actor Jon Hamm didn’t win the best actor award. Aside from being devilishly handsome, the guy can actually act and is cast perfectly as Don Draper.

True Blood's Stephen Moyer

True Blood's Ryan Kwanten
Glenn Close won her second best actress Emmy for playing a ruthless lawyer in the FX drama “Damages.” Bryan Cranston also won best actor in a drama for the second time for his work on AMC’s “Breaking Bad.” “I’m thankful for so many things,” he said. “[Golfer] Lee Trevino was struck by lightning twice, and now I know how he feels.”
Jon Cryer of CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” won for best supporting actor in a comedy. “I used to think that awards were just shallow tokens of momentary popularity,” Cryer said. “But now, I realize they’re the only true measure of a person’s real worth as a human being.”
Now for my favorite part: fashion
The ladies pulled out the punches with gorgeous gowns, glam hair and to-die-for jewels. A fantastic surprise was “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes on the red carpet reporting for E! Since NeNe speaks her mind, she had no problem saying exactly what was on her mind when it came to the clothes. In fact, E! should ask NeNe to join the panel for the “Fashion Police” show, which airs tonight.
GOSSIP GIRLS

Blake Lively:
Lively was the lady in red in a red crepe de chine Versace gown with a plunging neckline and super-high slit. If the front wasn’t enough to make you gasp, the back provided a gorgeous exit for the actress with an asymmetrical cut, open back. She paired the sexy look with nude Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Ooh-la-la!

Leighton Meester: The Queen Bee’s gorgeous gown has gotten mixed reactions, but it was one of my top picks of the night. Meester was a vision in white wearing a white Bottega Veneta Grecian inspired gown with a perfectly draped bodice and flowing, layered skirt. I LOVED the shoulder adornments on the dress, which added an edgy look to the glam gown. Don’t forget, the focus is on shoulders for Fall 2009.
J. MENDEL

Kate Walsh
I am a lover of everything J. Mendel! His designs are often featured on the red carpet and always take my breath away. Kate Walsh is my favorite gown of the evening (tied with January Jones). Walsh wore an ethereal J. Mendel gown in the perfect shade of ice blue. The flowing delight had a sweetheart neckline, layers of elegantly draped chiffon, and a partially open back. Expertly mixing high and low priced items, she paired her gown with a chic and cheap Aldo clutch! “Great style doesn’t have to cost a fortune, which is why I often mix luxury items with affordable finds,” Walsh has said.

Lindsay Price
I am still devastated over the cancellation of “Lipstick Jungle” but was thrilled to see Lindsay Price hit the red carpet last night in bold purple J. Mendel flowing gown with ribbons on the bodice and black detail.

Perrey Reeves
Entourage star Perrey Reeves had all eyes on her in a shimmery Naeem Khan gown with deep v-neck and capped sleeves. The gown was embellished in crystals and cut in a perfect silhouette, making it a shape that can be worn by anyone. Perrey wore her hair loosely pulled back with flowing curls and minimal jewelry. Perfecto!
MAD WOMEN

Christina Hendricks
The always fabulous Hendricks smoldered in a navy and black lace dress by L’Wren Scott, who is known for her form fitting, sheath dresses. I love that Christina chose a Scott design, since she is a master at designing glamorous dresses that are form fitting in all the right places. The Mad Men actress accessorized with Fred Leighton diamonds, and a clutch and heels from Prada. Va-va-voom!

January Jones
Ex-model Jones ditched the demure knits and hoop skirts she wears on the 60s inspired show and hit the red carpet in a showstopper. January pumped up the glamour with a deco-inspired Versace gown with a structured, sweetheart neckline bustier with silver lining and cutout detailing. Resembling a waistcoat, the bodice opened at the waist-line and opened up into a flowing chiffon skirt with draping and ruching. I LOVE IT!

Heidi Klum
She might be almost nine months pregnant, but that didn’t stop her from pulling out all the stops. Heidi Klum glowed in a figure-hugging black, strapless Marchesa gown, which showed off pregnancy curves.
Jenna Fischer
The Office star chose a black, sweetheart neck, silk-satin mermaid gown with hand-embroidered bust from Reem Acra’s 2010 Resort Collection. If you looked up close you could see the gown had an embroidered detail on the bodice and velour waist band. I know everyone love to see color, but this was the perfect black gown.
