This year’s London Film Festival was always going to be all about George Clooney. But as the Oscar winning actor arrived for the premiere of “The Men Who Stare At Goats” last night he was upstaged… by his own girlfriend.
When Italian TV presenter Elisabetta Canalis shed her black fur coat to reveal a stunning pink satin strapless dress by Issa, all eyes were on her. The dress, which had been designed especially for her, was pure eye candy with a delicately draped sweetheart neckline and flowing mini-skirt. Paired with silver Giuseppe Zanotti Design heels, glamorous curls and a strong red lip, Canalis oozed Hollywood glamour. As photographers launched into a frenzy to capture Canalis, Clooney stood aside and allowed his girlfriend lover to soak up the spotlight.
“The Men Who Stare At Goats” is a comedy inspired by Jon Ronson’s non-fiction best-seller about the bizarre activities of a secret unit in the US military. It also stars Ewan McGregor as a reporter who comes across the story of a lifetime when he meets a Special Forces operator, played by Clooney, who claims to possess psychic powers.

The film, which premiered on the second night of the London Film Festival, will be released on Friday, November 6.

The premiere was the second night in a row that Clooney has walked the red carpet for his films. On Thursday night he stepped out to promote “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and once again had a stunning Elisabetta Canalis on his arm. But this time, Canalis wasn’t the only showstopper on the red carpet with a surprising appearance by supermodel Cindy Crawford. Interestingly enough, the ladies wore near identical black evening gowns on the red carpet. Fashion faceoff?

Looking at these photos I cannot believe that these lovely ladies are ten years apart in age and Cindy Crawford proved that like a fine wine, women get better with age.
Cindy Crawford owned the red carpet in a black deep v-neck Roberto Cavalli gown with thigh high slit. Paired with Jimmy Choo Keenan patent leather stilettos and a black clutch, Crawford brought sexy back to the red carpet proving 43 is the new 33.
Taking Cindy’s lead, Elisabetta Canalis also wore a single shoulder black floor-length gown that was slashed to the waist, displaying her long slender limbs.
Also in attendance was model Sophie Dahl, who is the grand-daughter of Roald Dahl, who wrote the classic children’s story upon which the film is based. Her grandmother Felicity, Roald’s widow, arrived arm in arm with director Wes Anderson.
The film will be released on October 23.
