Mark Badgley and James Mischka, the dynamic duo behind the glamorous Badgley Mischka line, are launching a secondary, more affordable bridal collection this spring.
The new Mark and James bridal collection is for super stylish brides who don’t have boatloads of money to spend, but still want to look glamorous. “Obviously, with the recession, everything has slowed down to a certain degree,” Badgley said. “We definitely know that we need to broaden our reach.”

The 12-style Mark and James collection group will retail from $2,000 to $4,000 compared with the designers’ signature high-end collection that retails for upwards of $4,000, with many in the $8,000 to $10,000 price range.
Made in the same factories as Badgley Mischka’s signature bridal line, Mark and James features special touches that make the brand unique such as a train with lattice work, chiffon ruffles and intricate beading. One of the gowns is reminiscent of a style worn by Tyra Banks when she escorted the designers to the Costume Institute gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art last May.
La Perla Goes Bridal
La Perla is the name often associated with luxurious lingerie and classic undergarments. Now, the upscale brand is expanding into bridal with their first luxury bridal collection, set to debut in November.
Consisting of five groups designed to create a complete bridal trousseau in white and ivory, the collection will retail from $74 for a garter to $649 for a lace robe. Upscale undergarments are rendered in soft microfiber and Chantilly lace, while sleepwear is inspired by the Twenties in satin, pleated georgette and lace scalloped borders. For the contemporary bride, there also is a stretch silk georgette nightie with satin detail in short and long silhouettes.
Undergarment styles include a strapless microfiber bra with Chantilly lace band retailing for $240, with a coordinating high-waisted micro brief for $136, a micro bustier with Chantilly lace detail on a scoop back for $332 and matching undies with a Chantilly lace back for $131. Three groups include a combination of underpinnings and sleepwear styles that feature a long lace robe for $649, as well as a micro push-up bra with Chantilly lace band at $222, coordinating undies for $131 and a garter for $74. A long nightie sells for $417, a strapless micro bra with Chantilly lace-band bra goes for $240 and a satin pleated georgette short nightie with lace scallop border for $291. There is also a satin pleated and Chantilly lace push-up bra for $240 and a satin pleated thong for $86.
La Perla’s bridal collection will be available at 10 La Perla boutiques in the U.S. and laperla.com at first before expanding to select Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus stores in February.
