President Barack Obama has selected an interesting mix of individuals for the Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. The group of 25 appointees, which includes Hollywood actors, fashion magazine veterans and cultural leaders, represent a wide spectrum of American culture and entertainment.
Among the most famous names on the list are actors Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour; actress Sarah Jessica Parker, actor Edward Norton, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Bryan Lourd, managing director of Creative Artists Agency.
Anna Wintour was appointed honorary chair on the President’s Committee, which will focus on arts and humanities education, encourage partnerships between the public and private sector on cultural projects, initiating and supporting cultural programs and special events dedicated to recognizing excellence in these areas.
