Aren’t you curious what Carrie Bradshaw was like in her teenage years before her New York City apartment, Manolo Blahniks and Mr. Big? We’re about to find out…

phpThumb_generated_thumbnailjpgSex and the City” author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels, “The Carrie Diaries,” which are a prequel to her famous franchise. The books “take readers back to Carrie Bradshaw’s formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie’s friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer,” HarperCollins announced.

According to the publisher, “The Carrie Diaries” will also focus on Bradshaw’s first love, while the cover art specifically references an incident between the character and her mother.  Bushnell, in a statement issued by her publisher, said, “Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd – she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene.”

Bushnell’s adventures of Carrie and her Manhattan pals were adapted into the hit HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker and a second feature film is set for release in May 2010.

The Carrie Diaries will be published on April 27, 2010.
