As a self-professed lip gloss addict, I apply lip gloss at least once an hour, and if I am out it’s more like twice an hour. My motto has always been “A little lip gloss makes you feel better.” I guess it’s sort of like the lipstick affect. Even with a bare face, applying lipstick or lip gloss instantly transforms you.

Blake Lively applies lip gloss
Browsing through Allure.com today I saw they re-posted an article from back in 2005 when they reported we ingest 4 to 9 pounds of lipstick / lip gloss in our lifetime. Think about it – our lipstick doesn’t just evaporate. We eat it!
I don’t mind it so much considering I that don’t hate the taste of what I put on my lips, even though my husband does. Imagine how much lipstick he’s eaten over the course of our 12-year relationship.
Gwen Stefani is NEVER seen without her signature red lips
The funny thing is I never actually thought about what goes into my lipstick. Truth be told, if I found out my favorite gloss contained harmful chemicals, it’s highly unlikely I would stop using it because it looks great and simply makes me feel good about myself.
The FDA doesn’t regulate the cosmetics industry very closely, so it’s up to each of us to know what’s in our beauty products. And that’s the point of this video, produced by RAW Natural Beauty – try to know what you’re eating.
This commercial, for the RAW – Natural Beauty cosmetics line that GLOW.COM made, is meant to illustrate the importance of knowing what’s in your cosmetics. After I saw this crazy video I had to know how on earth this poor girl ingested all this makeup. Turns out the actress, Stevie, didn’t actually swallow those tubes of lipstick, but she did bite them off and spit them out between takes. Glow made the other makeup out of white chocolate and frosting, so don’t try this at home.

Gross. It’s all whale blubber or something. …and the darker/reds contain the most poison.
