Two gorgeous women, two glamorous ad campaigns for Spring 2010

The mood of Dolce & Gabbana’s spring campaign brims with heritage and romantic accoutrement’s. “The collection is very Italian, very Sicilian,” said Gabbana. “It’s a return to our roots with a modern angle, so we asked Madonna to interpret it in a different and human way. We believe that people are ready for a new message.”

madge dgThat message has Madonna playing a sultry housewife, which is not what is usually associated with the pop star known for her intense fitness regimen and strict diet.

The Material Girl is simply stunning in the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2010 campaign, in which she washes the dishes in a bubble filled sink, chops vegetables and even uses her hands to tuck into a bowl of messy pasta all surrounded by a comfy Italian kitchen filled with lace curtains and tablecloths, dishcloths and old wooden furniture.

Steven Klein snapped the eight black-and-white, horizontal pictures in a former lay convent in uptown Manhattan. For the campaign, Madonna chose a number of looks, including crocheted tops and dresses, floral skirts and leopard spots, which she mismatched to her taste.

During a brainstorming session before the shoot (Gabbana marveled at how well versed Madonna is on old Italian movies), they all agreed on Lachine Visconti’s film “Bellissima” as an inspiration. Released in 1951, the neorealist film stars Anna Magnani and Walter Chiari.

In one shot, Madonna even appears as a latter-day Magnani, gazing off-camera with tear-smoldered cheeks. “She really cried, she really dipped into the part and took it very seriously,” gushed Gabbana.

All I can say is wow! As a fan of Julianne Moore I am taken aback with her glamorous ad for luxury jewelry line Bulgari as well as her fantastic figure.

Bulgari has a new gem in 49-year-old actress Julianne Moore. The gorgeous red-head posed nude for BVLGARI’s Spring / Summer 2010 jewelry and watch advertising campaign dubbed Eccentric Charisma.

Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, Moore, channels Jean-Leon Gerome’s famous painting, Odalisque. She is shown lounging about in an exotic boudoir with an Asian flavor, where purple satin, sumptuous brocades and peacock feathers abound.

The campaign features the company’s new Chandra bag in chestnut and Prussian blue, and Moore dons large emerald teardrop earrings and coiling snake bracelets from Bulgari’s Serpenti collection. The full campaign will be revealed in February 2010.
