‘Queen of Shoes’ has given her stamp of approval to the British shoe designer
British shoe designer, Nicholas Kirkwood has received the ultimate stamp of approval – from no less than the ‘Queen of Shoes’, Sarah Jessica Parker.
She may have kept it basic in a simple black flowing dress, but Sarah Jessica Parker took it to the next level with a pair of cut out Nicholas Kirkwood platform pumps at the New York premiere of “Did You Hear About the Morgans?.”
Renowned for her love of Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin stiletto’s, SJP wore Kirkwood’s open-toe “Web” sling-back in black python, patent and lizard to the premiere on Monday night.
The fierce black suede platform shoe with python cut-out detail has a 5.5 inch heel and retails for $1,600.

Joining SJP on the red carpet was her co-star Hugh Grant as well as her “Sex And The City” co-stars Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon (Kristin Davis is currently holidaying in St Barts with boyfriend James Russell).
Nixon, who plays lawyer Miranda Hobbs in SATC, wore a grey draped satin jersey dress, while Cattrall looked sleek in a black floral-patterned shirt dress.
Kirkwood, 29, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, has been steadily gaining in fame since he launched his first collection in 2005. Grace Jones, the late Isabella Blow, Daphne Guinness and Cecilia Dean of Visionaire were instant fans.
When I visited Paris last month, his shoes were predominately featured in the hottest shops and always seemed to be the items I was instantly drawn to.
Kirkwood has an ongoing design collaboration with the Los Angeles-based sisters behind the avant-garde Rodarte label, Laura and Kate Mulleavy. Currently, Rodarte is the only other designer label Kirkwood works with, apart from his own eponymous brand, since he was appointed design director of accessories for the Italian company, Pollini, together with creative director, Jonathan Saunders, for the relaunch in March last year.

Kirkwood’s killer heels incorporate luxurious skins (lizard, snakeskin), intricate geometric design and a sharp, jagged platform making them completely unique and anything but boring.
The designer said he dedicates his designs to the “women with presence and a bit of rock ‘n’ roll”.
