Style.com got an exclusive look into the product savvy makeup bag of super stylist and fashion trendsetter Rachel Zoe.
Zoe, whose reality show The Rachel Zoe Project has been picked up for a third season, is best known for her boho-chic fashion style, which includes oversize sunnies, chunky jewelry, vintage clothing, and platform sandals. And even though she has her makeup professionally done prior to major events, she relies on her own savvy skills for day-to-day.
Rachel’s beauty icon is Brigitte Bardot, “Because she’s all about sexy glamour, dramatic eyes, black liner, and lashes.”
Her arsenal of makeup and beauty products reflects her inspiration and includes a mix of super-luxe items, industry favorites, and lower priced brands. Rachel is obsessive about her beauty ritual and it shows, considering she always looks polished without being overdone.
Born Rachel Zoe Rosenzweig, the graduate of George Washington University began her fashion career at Gotham and YM Magazine before becoming the ultimate Style Icon herself.
With her book, Style A to Zoe, collaboration with Piperlime, and an affordable, vintage inspired clothing and accessory collection, Rachel always glows.
Here’s how she does it…
La Prairie Life Threads Silver – $125
“It’s a new fragrance that has all of the notes I love in a scent, including tuberose and jasmine. And the packaging is like a piece of art.”
I’ve always wondered what fragrance Rachel wore herself. La Prairie is one of Rachel’s favorite skincare brands, and her devotion to the brand crosses over into scent.
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect in Draped Burgundy 957 – $26
Rachel said, “I love this for a sheer dose of rich color. It’s a perfect berry red for day or night.”
This is how Zoe get that perfectly stained berry pout!
An ultra-shimmering reformulation of Dior’s cult-favorite, Dior Addict lip gloss, this gives lips mega-watt shine and color that lasts for hours.
Chanel Sublimage Serum Essential Regenerating Concentrate – $400
“It gives an instant surge of moisture and shine to your face. After cleansing, it’s my first step. I use it morning and night.”
At $400 a pop, skincare is obviously important to Rachel.
Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes in Phenomen’Black – $28
“The rounded brush is so easy to use, and it gives me the perfect Brigitte Bardot lashes.”
A revolutionary new mascara designed to grip at lashes starting at the roots, Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara perfectly curls and separates lashes.
Its high-tech, patented round sphere at the tip of the precision wand that reaches every lash and adapts to all eye shapes.
Chanel Le Vernis in Intermezzo and Vamp – $23
“I love this mod-sixties white shade. And Vamp is my year-round staple color.”
Rodial Glam Balm – $80
“The perfect all-in-one surge of moisturizer for hands, lips, and face.
It’s not greasy and plumps everything up instantly. One of my faves while traveling.”
Refines wrinkles AND pumps up lips? Count me in
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation 5.5 – $58
“This is the best foundation I’ve ever used. It gives me flawless skin that looks like I’m not wearing foundation at all.”
Kristi Yamaguchi revealed to me that she discovered the flawless coverage of this foundation while on “Dancing with the Stars” and now counts it as a must-have thanks to its light feel. Many celebrities swear by this product, and tons of makeup artists keep it in their product arsenal.
Serge Lutens Clair de Musc – $120
“A perfect fresh, powdery scent.
I’m always on the hunt for a special fragrance.”
I always thought Rachel would wear more bohemian fragrances, but her taste in scent is surprisingly very feminine.
YSL Touche Eclat 3 – $40
“A perfect concealor that’s always with me. It’s the best camouflage for dark circles.”
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat revolutionized the beauty industry (and my makeup routine).
If you are one of the few who haven’t tried this product yet, you are doing your face an injustice.
NARS the Multiple Stick in Malibu – $37
“This is my daily essential for an instant sun-kissed look for cheeks and lips.”
A staple of makeup artists perfecting a healthy glow, Nars The Multiple is an all-in-one, cream-to-powder, multi-purpose makeup stick. Use it to highlight and warm eyes, cheeks, lips, and body.
La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Honey Glow – $70
“I love the texture of this blush and its perfect peachy-pink color. I just dab it on my cheeks with my fingers.”
Cream blush has come a long way from the cakey formulations of the past. Perfect for achieving the most natural look, they are easily applied with fingers and last forever.
Lancome Genifique Eye Youth Activating Eye Concentrate – $59
“This gel cream provides the perfect amount of moisture around your eye without being greasy.”
La Prairie Luxe Eye Liner Automatique in Granite – $50
“A charcoal- black color that goes on like velvet.”
Rachel and I both have hazel eyes, and I swear by granite colored eyeliners for their ability to brighten and accentuate my green / brown eyes without looking too severe.
La Prairie Cellular Cream Platinum Rare – $1000 for 1.7 oz.
“An amazing product in an equally amazing and countertop-worthy jar. I use this after my serum morning and night. It’s the most luxurious moisturizer I’ve ever used.”
MAC Pigment Glitter in Reflects Gold – $19.50
“I add a dab of this to the corners of my eyes to open them up.”
I have been a devotee of MAC Pigment Glitter since their inception a few years ago. There is no other product on the market that offers such intense color. Warning: only use a dab of this to avoid looking like a clown.
Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Eyeliner – $30
“I love it because it’s easy to apply and stays out without running.”
This long-lasting, water-based liquid eyeliner with a tapered pen tip provides ultimate application precision. The unique calligraphic tool produces sharp contrast and definition to the eyes and the matte black liquid shade creates a sultry and dramatic look.
Mac Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder – $21
“It never cakes up, and it removes excess shine. It’s the last step, the finishing touch.”
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels $45 for 6 pairs
“I use these eye gels almost every day. They’re the quickest way to wake up tired eyes.”
