The beauty look that came down the Paris runway at Chanel’s Spring 2010 Couture show was as feminine and bright as the collection itself.
“Karl [Lagerfeld] gave me three key words: Neon Baroque, Chemical Pastels and Liquid Silver,” said Peter Phillips, Chanel’s global creative director for makeup as he dreamed up the look for the spring couture show. The end result was a soft flawless look with a statement lip.
“For the lips I used the new Summer 2010 Rouge Allure Lipstick in Genial,” Peter said. “This coral shade perfectly matched the Technicolor and Neon Baroque spirit Karl wanted for the makeup at this show.” The vivid shade, accompanied by Le Crayon Levres Precision Lip Definer in Pink Sugar, added the perfect pop of color and is due to hit stores in May.
“There are pastels with a touch of synthetic,” said Philips of the collection.
Models eyelids got a swipe of silver and gray hues from the new Ombres Contraste Duo, set to arrive in stores this Spring, called Gris Subtile. The smoky color combination offered the perfect contrast to bubbly pink lips. He accentuated the look by only lining the top lash with the silvery Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite.
Soft, porcelain-like skin was perfected with Chanel Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Makeup SPF 15 ($54), which has a semi-matte finish. Adding a sweet touch of coral flush, Peter dusted Les Tissages de Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Corail ($45) all over the cheeks.
The delicate look was paired with bold statement hair featuring a Lady Gaga inspired bow hairdo, the creation of Katsuya Kamo.
Kamo sculpted the models straight bangs, often streaked with a grayish color, before dividing the remainder in half and pulling upward into two textured sections – between which lay a decorated ribbon.
In addition to the new colors showcased in the Chanel Couture show, the summer 2010 Chanel Les Pop-Up de Chanel Collection packs a punch of fresh, summery colors that will be available in stores in April.
