Legends of rock descended on Milan to celebrate fashion designer Roberto Cavalli’s 40th anniversary.
The Florentine designer, Roberto Cavalli, marked his 40th anniversary in fashion, with a decadent runway parade of hippie-chic looks, furs, animal-prints, brocade military coats, and boho-dresses. In his show notes, Roberto Cavalli claimed he’d always created dresses for the most beautiful women and “for men who need the beauty of women to complete themselves” and the end result for his fall 2010 runway collection proved to be exciting for both.
This collections use of elaborate brocade, leather, and embroidery all provided a vintage inspired feel to a very modern collection.
Singer Courtney Love, actress Lindsay Lohan, and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood were among the front-row audience who toasted four decades of rocker-chic collections.
Wood triggered paparazzi frenzy when he arrived with his new girlfriend, Brazilian polo instructor Ana Araujo. “This is Ana, my babe. We’re doing very well,” said the rocker has been dating Araujo, 26, for two months, after meeting her at the Covent Garden Opera House in London. “She is very helpful to me and very supportive when I try to remain on the straight and narrow and focused,” he said, alluding to a recent stint in rehab.
Lohan was on her best behavior as she arrived at the show wearing a slinky metallic one-shoulder draped minidress by Roberto Cavalli.
With LiLo and Courtney Love at the same event you know one is bound to make headlines and on that evening it was rocker Love, who lifted up the sleeve of her dress to show an approving Ron Wood a tattoo on her arm that read “Let It Bleed,” after the 1969 Rolling Stones album.
Love opted for floral prints and wore a Roberto Cavalli Fall / Winter 2010 flowing chiffon dress paired over slim trousers and accompanied by a lace and corsage hair band, which partially covered her face. Before flying to Milan for fashion week, Love attended the NME Awards in London where she got into a heated fight with Lily Allen.
The verbal shouting match started after Lily branded Love a ‘drug addled lunatic’ following the spat, which began when Love accused her of hoarding all the Chanel dresses available on loan so other actresses couldn’t wear them. As a ‘face’ of the brand Lily gets preferential access, but denied she had stopped anyone else from wearing it. A witness said the pair were chatting amicably at first, before things ‘turned really nasty, really aggressive and bitchy’. They then had to be pulled apart by their entourages.
Also in attendance was Elisabetta Canalis, the girlfriend of George Clooney, who appears in Cavalli’s spring underwear campaign.
