NY FASHION WEEK: ALLISON PARRIS Unveils The Fall Wardrobe Every Woman Will Want to Wear

March 2nd, 2010 · 1 Comment

Allison Parris returned to New York Fashion Week this season with a dynamic runway show previewing the Fall / Winter 2010 ready-to-wear collection that every woman would want to wear – and buy – featuring feminine, flattering, and fabulous pieces. Its one of the few collections where I exclaim ” I’ll take one of everything” and actually mean it considering the price point is more in line with reality than runway.

The collection showed an edgier look than previous seasons, while keeping the overall feel light and happy. Due to the detailed embellishments, garments were shown without the use of accessories since the extensive use of hand-embroidery and chain appliqué became the collection’s focus.

In addition, Allison’s use of vintage pearls, delicate netting, and leather effortlessly balanced the romantic palette. The contrast of the luxurious antique brass detail incorporates high-end glamour into clothes are actually comfortable providing the wearer with easy-going elegance and spectacular detailing.

Standout pieces include a lightweight wool jacket with vintage pearl trim; a sequin & net camisole paired with a high-waist wool skirt; a cream wool motorcycle jacket with appliqué on the oversized neckline; and a tailored wool jacket paired with a rescued and repurposed mink scarf paired over a sequin trapeze dress with leather straps.

In keeping with Allison Parris’ commitment to eco-responsibility, the line uses sustainable, organic and/or repurposed fabrics without sacrificing style. The line also uses recycled PET satin, made from recycled soda bottles, to line many of its pieces.

Allison Parris differentiates herself as designer by offering a collection that is chock full of feminine and flirty pieces with vintage-inspired details that I have yet to see elsewhere. The overall look is sophisticated with an edge, much like Allison herself.

Her use of simple fabric combined with extraordinary detail result in a distinctive point of view making every exceptional piece feel one-of-a-kind. Allison’s vision is clear: fashionably chic pieces for today’s woman that are classic with unique characteristics. The pieces look expensive, but without the costly price tag that often accompanies such beautiful garments.

Real Housewives of NYCAlex McCord (left) attended the show wearing an rich plum Silk Taffeta and Organza Cocktail dress by Allison Parris that I actually purchased last year (retail $550).

Also seated in the front row was Natali Germanotta, aspiring fashion designer and the younger sister of pop-superstar Lady Gaga.

As a fan of brand’s feminine aesthetic, Natali described Allison’s fall collection as “new and fresh” and loved how she delicately incorporated masculine details, such as leather and chains, into the soft and lush pieces.

Germonatta appreciates designers that have grasped the concept of creating interchangeable pieces that are meant to be mixed with other items in your wardrobe, allowing the wearer to create their own unique look.

It’s this fashion sixth sense that Natali takes away from her fabulous older sister, Lady Gaga. When I asked Natali if she is influenced by what her sister wears, she reverted back to her initial thoughts on interpreting fashion into something totally unique and your own, which is something that Lady Gaga is all about.

After three seasons, the Allison Parris brand has built a following of fashionistas who covet individuality. Her Spring / Summer 2010 collection, inspired by the music of the Andrew’s Sisters of the 1940’s, will be available online at www.allisonparris.com later this month.
