Hollywood’s biggest night is almost here and stars have been living it up with an array of fabulous soiree’s all leading up to the biggest night of the year: The Academy Awards.
Zoe Saldana knocked it out of the park at the 3rd Annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon in LA on Thursday wearing a creamy lace embellished Valentino Spring 2010 minidress.
Accepting an award from “Avatar” director James Cameron, the elegance of the lace was perfectly offset by the ruffles and tiered crochet skirt, which added a fun and flirty feel to the overall look.
“So much goes on that sometimes you don’t allow yourself a moment to sit back and take everything in,” said the star of maintaining her perspective during a year that’s included roles in the blockbusters Avatar and Star Trek.
“While everybody’s talking and everybody’s celebrating I just take a moment to myself to let everything sink in. I want to look back and think, ‘Those were the times of my life,’ I want to be in the moment.” I cannot wait to see all the stops she pulls out for the Oscars.
Later that night, Natalie Portman rocked it in a look straight off the runway by hot French designer Isabel Marant at the RAAD Grey Goose bash at Soho House in Los Angeles on Thursday night. This look is so insane that I’ve been calling around all day trying to secure the tweed jacket for myself with no luck.
Portman wore my favorite look from Marant’s Spring 2010 collection pairing a colorful lurex stripe minidress in shades of silver, pink, and teal. But the piece-des-resistance was the coordinating ice blue tweed jacket with a jewel encrusted neckline.
The low scoop neck of the tailored jacket keeps it modern, and the dazzling embellishments made it appropriate for day or night. I am in LOVE!
Luckily for New Yorkers, Isabel Marant is finally bringing her enviable Parisian chic style stateside this month, opening a store in N.Y.C’s Soho district.
Also in attendance was Jennifer Lopez, who looked every inch the Hollywood golden girl in a sparkling single-sleeve dress from Kaufmanfranco paired with an amazing fringed clutch and YSL platforms.
When asked who designed her glamorous dress, she had to ask husband Marc Anthony to search for the label. ‘It’s here somewhere,’ he joked, as he put his hand down the back of her dress, adding: ‘Can’t find anything’. J-Lo explained that her stylist had driven the dress over that night and she had forgotten to ask who designed it.
The night was hosted by Sir Elton John and David Furnish at the newly-opened Soho House, which Sir Elton explained had hastily been completed that morning. Also in attendance was a powerhouse of celebrities including Madonna, Dustin Hoffman, Best Actress nominee and recent Bafta winner Carey Mulligan, and Kelly Osbourne.

Across town, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore attended the 3rd annual Hollywood Domino Gala and pulled up to the bash at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in a $480,000 Maybach. Once inside the hotel’s Bar 210, the couple got in on the fun at the spirited tropical themed game night, which benefitted Artists for Peace and Justice.
Elegant as ever, Demi looked stunning in a sapphire blue column gown by Victoria Beckham. On her arm were her handsome husband, and the most spectacular jewel-encrusted clutch I have ever seen.
Meanwhile, Benji and Joel Madden joined fellow eco-friendly celebs Jessica Alba and Cash Warren at Global Green USA’s 7th annual pre-Oscar bash, held at L.A. night spot Avalon.
Though the brothers Madden took the stage to entertain the crowd, Joel—who will spin tunes at the Academy Awards ceremony—kept things low-key. “Getting ready for my DJ gig on Sunday night,” he tweeted. “But it’s been a good day.”
Jessica Alba attended the event in a gorgeous draped ivory dress by Viktor & Rolf accented with a bow-tie belt. She added edge to her lace-inset dress with an exotic clutch, Casadei patent gladiators, and rocker-chic studded bangles.
Another party being held the sane night was at the home of film producer Peter Guber and his wife Tara in Bel Air was the Third Annual Women In Film Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party, which gave Hollywood’s ladies a chance to shine.
Among the guests were Best Actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe, Glee star Jayma Mays and My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos.
Camilla Belle stood out in a gold leaf embellished sheath dress by Jason Wu from his Fall 2010 collection. The deep, rich color looked so luxurious with her dark hair and she paired the spectacular look with an interesting twist: lavender pumps.
Meanwhile, Mena Suvari attended the same event and made quite a statement with a bizarre bouffant updo. I am not sure if the messy bed-head look was intentional, but it appeared as if her hair fell forward, partially covering her fair. I couldn’t even look at the dress because the hair was so overpowering.
With the good always comes the bad…
