With the huge success of their bridal line, it’s only fitting that J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons would take the next step into bridal jewelry. And who better to collaborate with on a collection of super-luxe bridal jewels than Miriam Haskell.
J. Crew has tapped 84-year-old costume jewelry brand Miriam Haskell – a personal favorite of Lyons – for a capsule collection to be sold at J. Crew’s bridal boutique, which opens on Madison Avenue in June. “I have a frightening amount,” Lyons said of her Haskell collection, which she has used in styling the J. Crew catalogue.
“We want the bride to look gorgeous and we’re not about giant, overwhelming cupcake dresses,” Lyons said. “It’s about simplicity in silhouettes and pairing it with great jewelry pieces.”
“TOMORROW’S COLLECTIBLES, TODAY” sums up Miriam Haskell’s approach to designing beautiful costume jewelry with impeccable style that will be sought after for years to come. Haskell’s creations are still made entirely by hand, which results in superb quality with keen attention to detail.
According to WWD the collection reflects the hallmarks of Haskell’s designs: double filigree, hand-beading and glass and crystal beads intricately applied in dramatic styles. Key pieces include pearl and crystal brooches that can be worn at the waist of a wedding gown, or even in the hair, and three-strand pearl necklaces with an elaborate pendant. There also are less traditional options, such as sparkling chandelier earrings, bold cuffs and cocktail rings in the same color palette of gold and white pearls and floral motifs.
The collection is feminine with an antique feel and draws inspiration from vintage pieces and materials from Haskell’s archives. These ornate, handmade-to-order accoutrements will range from $150 to $1,400, with the majority of items falling between $500 to $1,000.
The bride deserves only the best on her wedding day.
